  1. What was your original vision?

My original vision was to create a bulletin board that depicted my daily routine to my audience. I was going to use personal items, photos and writing and attach them to a bulletin to make something similar to an evidence tracking board in a detective’s office.

  1. How did your project differ from the original vision?

I soon realized that not only is it nearly impossible to track my hectic day with images, but I also have a different schedule every day. Every single day of the week I teach at a different school, wake up at a different time for class and travel to a different place. This made me realize that my original idea was unfortunately not feasible for a bulletin board project. I then decided that it would be more interesting and feasible if I showed my audience all the adventures I’ve been on with my motorcycle so far. So that’s what I did instead.

  1. Do you think your project is a success? Why or why not?

I do. I think this project came out more clear and more interesting than my original vision would have been. I already had the images, as I always take a picture of the place I’ve traveled to with my motorcycle. I also thought this would be more clear to my audience since every image contains a caption and clear location, which allows my audience to learn more about my home country and my experiences here.

  1. Do you think your project got weaker due to compromises you had to make to complete it? Or stronger due to improvements as you executed the work and found new ideas? Or both? Please describe!

I believe the evolution of my concept caused my project to become stronger. The idea that I had before would not have been as exciting or educational as the idea that I chose in the end. One compromise I had to make was that I could not use a bulletin board or string, as there was not enough space to do so on my bulletin board. Instead, I had to take a large cardboard box, cover it with white A3 paper and turn that into my canvas for this project. This strengthened my project as well, as I was able to use more space and wasn’t being held back by only having one bulletin board worth of space.

  1. What ideas, concepts, or artistic abilities were you trying to explore in this project? Did you achieve your goals? Do you think your piece communicates what you wanted it to?

The main look I was going for was a detective’s evidence board. I really liked this concept and thought it would be an interesting and unique way to depict my idea. However, it simply wasn't very feasible due to the lack of space and the amount of visual clutter that this would cause. Despite not achieving this detective board look that I wanted, I believe I did a great job with showing my audience what my life is like in a more fun way, as the motorcycle concept was most likely more interesting than my daily schedule concept.

  1. What would you do differently if you did this project again?

If I were to do this project again, I’d want to build a large bulletin board out of cork and wood and I’d want to add nails to the board that stuck out. By doing this, I would be able to attach my own personal items (such as a helmet or keys) to the board to add an interactive element to my artwork.
